I recieved the butterfly kiss in exchange for this hones review
The Butterfly Kiss is a dual stimulation vibrator that combines relatively powerful clitoral stimulation with a G-spot teaser. It can be used alone or with a partner, on its own or with an anal toy (it’s slim and flexible enough that this variant is very pleasurable for me while other toys feel like too much). If you don’t feel like inserting it – bend the shaft so that it presses horizontally against your vulva and rub the butterfly on your clitoris. Once covered with a condom you can try it anally – the shaft is flexible so if it’s long enough for you, you could still use the butterfly part for clitoral stimulation
There has been some confusion about the material of which the Butterfly Kiss is made, but now we have a confirmation that it’s indeed TPR and not jelly. That’s good news since it makes the toy phthalate-free and less prone to yellowing or causing unpleasant burning sensations.
The Butterfly Kiss is very soft and pliable. You can bend the shaft in whatever direction you want without much effort. That makes hard thrusting safe and pleasurable for me – there’s no way I could hurt myself with this toy. It also helps the toy conform to the shape of a woman making it fit a greater variety of bodies. The distance between the clitoris and the vaginal opening isn’t an issue here as opposed to many other rabbit vibrators.
The softness means also that this toy is not for serious g-spotting. There’s no way to create a strong, upward pressure with this toy, although it still gives me some specific pleasurable sensations that I came to associate with g-spotting with harder toys.
The antennae, wings and the ribbed body of the bug provide texture and enhance the experience. There is also a heart pattern at the base of the toy. At first I thought it was to cause mental diabetes by overdose on sweetness. Then I noticed they make the gripping easier, especially if your fingers are covered with lube.
The material doesn’t rub off or degrade visibly. I’ve had it for more than 1.5 years and apart from the slightest yellowing in the wings and antennae there hasn’t been any change in it. It’s a bit tacky and therefore collects lint, but that can be fixed by running it under the tap before use which you should do anyway. A drop of lube will make it smooth and remove the drag.
There are however a lot of imperfections in the material. The biggest one is near the top of the motor – since I’ve seen it on other copies I assume it’s where the rubber was poured into the mold. There are also indented lines on various parts of the toy – mainly on the back of the shaft. My camera (or my skills with it) is too weak to pick them up.
There was no distinct odor once I’d first taken it out of the package. When smelled it has a very light and neutral smell. There is no taste
I consider the Butterfly Kiss to be a very well-designed toy in terms of function. It’s very comfortable both for the parts on the receiving and the giving end. For once I don’t have to readjust my grip – the 3.5” base is long enough for holding. The penetrative arm of the toy is short and thin (3” insertable length, diameter from 0.6 to 1.2” in the head) – it doesn’t feel filling, but that is exchanged for the amazing feeling of the bulbous head providing resistance against the PC muscle on every outward thrust.
The part designed for clitoral stimulation extends 1.4” from the shaft, not counting the antennae, but if your clitoris is further up it can be reached too in exchange for making the shaft a bit shorter. The wings and antennae are great for teasing, but it’s the ridged body of the insect that gave me wonderful clitoral stimulation. If they were made from a hard material it would feel like a grater, but now it’s just right.
Butterfly Kiss is controlled by a single button at the base. You press it firmly and it clicks loudly taking you to the lowest, teasing setting. The second speed is significantly more powerful and perfectly satisfying for me. The third is very intense and a bit numbing – I use it when the batteries are going – then it’s similar to the previous one. Fourth click turns off the toy. There is no special off button but if you press the speeds button lightly, without using force to click it, the toy stops until you decide to change the speed or take your finger off. That can be used to create faux patterns.
The Butterfly kiss isn’t a discreet toy – it has a buzzy, distinct sound that can be easily heard through the covers. Luckily it’s waterproof so you can have more privacy by using it in the shower. I’ve done so, but I’ve never completely submerged the toy because I fear that the O-ring is a bit too thin to protect it adequately. I’m probably wrong, but since I don’t have a tub there is no reason to put the toy I like so much at risk.
Considering it takes two AAA batteries this toy is very powerful and buzzy, especially since soft materials don’t transfer the vibrations well. It uses the batteries quicker than my other toys but still at an acceptable rate – I get a couple of uses before I have to put them in the charger
Feeding this butterfly is fairy simple. You twist and tug the cap and insert two AAA batteries according to the symbols on the compartment. Then you twist the cap on – there are two bumps – larger and smaller on the vibe and two grooves corresponding in size on the cap. Once you match those closing is a snap.
Unfortunately, TPR is a porous material. That means no sharing without a condom unless you are fluid-bonded and covering it if you plan to use it anally. To clean it use soap and water. You could further partially sanitize it by sprinkling a toy cleaner over it.
Store the toy in a way that protects it from touching other soft materials. A lint-free pouch could be a good choice if you think that the plastic packaging takes too much space. Manufacturers usually advise to remove the batteries when not in use to prevent the appliance from draining them and protect the mechanism from acid leaks.
Butterfly Kiss came to me in the original Cal Exotics packaging: a plastic clamshell and a paper insert. The photos are suggestive but in my honest opinion more tasteful than those for other products of this type. The model is wearing a nice blue bustier and showing off her leg – the amount of nudity is less than I could expect on an average newspaper stand. Then there are, of course, some exaggerated claims (that no single toy could fulfill) like “The Ultimate in Feminine Arousal”. As far as useful information goes there are “Phthalate-free” and “Waterproof” signs, the number of speeds, material name, and a reminder to close the cap tightly and use water-based lube. The last one doesn’t make much sense since it’s a novelty item, after all and shouldn’t be used in any other way.
The modest size of the toy combined with how well it works with energetic thrusting makes it a good warm-up toy for me. I don’t have to reach full arousal to insert it without discomfort. After a quick but usually strong orgasm (this toy has a record of giving me tens on a 10-point scale) I feel energized and relaxed. For me, this toy is good way to start a longer session
